The Oyster Edge tracker is specially designed to be able to be used indoors, somewhere normal GPS trackers often struggle.
Indoor Tracking Capabilities
The “edge” refers to this devices capability to be used to track locations even when stuck indoors. This device combines the use of normal GPS/GNSS, Wifi AP MAC address scanning, and cell tower location for complete indoor/outdoor capabilites. Also, utilising the “Cloud location lookup service” ($1.10 per 1,000 lookups – thats over 3 years worth for a device that updates daily) makes location lookups occur in the cloud instead of on-device – saving heaps of battery.
Award Winning Battery Performance
Using the 3x AA (not included) and setting up the device configuration correctly can gain you a huge amount of battery life. This means it can be used as a deploy-once solution. E.g. Once Daily location updates = 10+ yrs, Hourly location updates = 3.5 yrs. Includes battery monitoring for low and critical alerts for your deployment.
Periodic or Movement Based Tracking
This device can be configured to save you money and battery life. By configuring a periodic plan (see our plans page) you can save a bunch of money on your tracking bill, and also increase your devices battery life. The device will only connect a specific amount of times to update its status and location.
Theft Recovery
By setting the device into recovery mode, at the next update the device will provide real-time tracking. This is designed for a theft recovery for devices that usually only update a small amount. This can be done from the TLX portal or by contacting support.
Rugged & Waterproof
This device can withstand the harshest of environments. With its IP68 and IK08 ratings, the device can withstand impact, fine dust, and even complete submersion for a time. It can also boasts an operating temperature of -30°C to +60°C
