The Barra Core is a feature rich and low-cost asset tracker. It does not have a GPS module and instead uses cell-tower scanning and Wi-Fi positioning technology.
Ideal for Metropolitan Areas
The issue with many trackers is when they lose GPS signal indoors, which is especially common in metropolitan areas. The Barra Core tracking device is purpose built for this!
It removes the GPS module to save on battery life and costs of the hardware. Instead of GPS, it uses cell-tower scanning and W-iFi positioning technology to lookup its location. Our system handles the look-ups for you to get the location data.
Award Winning Battery Performance
Using the recommended 2 x AA lithium batteries (not included) and setting up the device configuration correctly can gain you a huge amount of battery life. This means it can be used as a deploy-once solution.
For example:
- Once daily location updates = 10 years battery life
- Hourly location updates = 3 years battery life
The Barra Core includes battery monitoring for low battery and critical alerts for your deployment.
Periodic or Movement Based Tracking
The Barra Core can be configured to save you money and battery life.
By configuring a periodic plan you can save money on your tracking bill, and also increase your tracking device’s battery life. The device will only connect a specific amount of times to update its status and location.
Theft Recovery
By setting the tracker into recovery mode, at the next update the device will provide real-time tracking. This theft recovery mode is designed for trackers configured for infrequent updates. This can be done from the Tracklogix portal or by contacting support.
Rugged & Waterproof
The Barra Core tracker can withstand the harshest of environments. With its IP68 and IK07 ratings, this device can withstand impact, fine dust, and even complete submersion for a time. It can also boasts an operating temperature of -30°C to +60°C.
Magnetic Switch
The tracking device itself features a magnetic switch which enables quick activation and tamper detection. An alert can be configured to notify when a device is removed from a metal object such as heavy machinery.
